Introduction

Hi everyone, welcome to my blog! I started this blog as part of a project that investigates how an individual's Personal Learning Environment (PLE) impacts him. Over the years I have developed an interest in new ideas and inventions. This blog will be more about the general genesis of the concept or product, rather than the specific intricate design behind its function. For the moment, I will focus more on innovative technology, and perhaps later branch out into other areas of interest. But first, I would like to share a few of the blogs I am following. I have found several blogs that correlates to my interest of new inventions and have selected 5 of my favorite. The following blogs are in no particular order:

1. TED stands for Technology, Education, and Design. This organization "is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading." Many of its videos feature innovative concepts and insightful thoughts on current events and technology. I really admire a lot of TED's videos.

2. . Quirky is a company that helps aspiring inventors further their designs and preliminary ideas. An inventor will submit his idea and the community will work on and improve the idea. If the idea does come into fruition, the inventor and any other contributors can receive up to 30% of the resulting profits.

3.  InventionHome's blog is similar to Quirky in that InventionHome helps participating designers develop the idea and license it to manufacturer. Many ideas on this blog are extremely interesting!

4. This blog offers many innovative ideas while also giving some vital context behind the ideas.

5. This is an awesome site! Not only does it provide its readers with some fascinating new gadgets invented, it also uncovers many exciting facts and discoveries. The topics covered are very diverse, and span from ancient Egyptian pyramids to special aircraft to newly discovered species of animals.

  1. Welcome! (I'm not sure if you want to use your real name on this project so I won't use it in my comments)

Great introduction and Favourite Five. I know and love TED. You'll find that there are many TED fans at the school, especially among your teachers. I don't know the other sites but it intrigues me to do know that there are communities of inventors out there who are willing to collaborate on ideas. What a great use of social networking. It'd would be interesting to me to hear about projects that were generated through these sites: how ideas came about, how they were refined in a collaborative process and how they were realized. I bet some of those stories are fascinating. Thanks for a great read!

  2. I also enjoy TED Talks. There have been many where I've thought beforehand, "That doesn't sound very interesting," but after watching it I walk away having learned something new & great. So many engaging speakers to be discovered there!
And thanks for sharing all off the other links.
